How to make a change

Big changes

If you need to change the type of policy you have – say, if the value of your customers’ cars is now higher and you need a comprehensive rather than third party policy, or because you now employ staff and need Employers’ Liability insurance – call our Sales Support Team on 08707 87 87 20 to find out how best to do this.

Smaller changes

Need to change a detail in a policy that you already have?

These changes are called Mid -Term Adjustments. You'll not be charged an administration fee, but there may be a change in premium, to reflect the updated details.

Here are the most common ones:

  • Add a driver
Because your Motor Trade policy specifies named drivers, it is vital that you tell us about new ones. We'll need their date of birth, address and details of driving history.

Call the administration team on 08707 87 87 20 with the driver(s) details and we will guide you on the additional premium that would be applicable if the driver(s) was to be added to your policy.

Note - it is not possible to add temporary drivers or to give a refund when you remove a driver. Please do make sure that all your named drivers are up-to-date at renewal time.
  • Replace a lost certificate
If you've lost your Certificate of Insurance and need a replacement, you can download a Notification of Lost Certificate form, complete it and then post it to us, or you can FAX it to 08707 87 87 50. We'll send you a replacement free.
Please return the old certificate to us, if found later.
  • Change of Policyholder’s Address
If you are on the move, please help us to keep our records straight - you never know when we may need to contact you speedily.

Complete a Notification of Policyholders Change of Address form then you can post it to us or FAX it to 08707 87 87 50
  • Request a Green Card
An International Motor Insurance Certificate (in other words, a Green Card!) is not always needed to drive in EU countries now. However, it's a fairly complicated legal situation and many travellers prefer to play safe. If you are taking your car to countries outside the EU, you will need one.

Please give us plenty of time to issue a Green Card. Please note there may be a small cost involved.

Just complete the Request for Green Card form and post or fax it to us, or you can complete the form online and email it. We will then call you back to advise you of the cost.

You can get more information about Green Cards on www.mib.org.uk and advice about driving abroad on www.driving.co.uk.
