Why Road Runner for Mechanic Tool Insurance?

We’re motor trade mavens

At Road Runner, we make it our business to truly know the motor trade business. And our thirty-plus years of experience mean we understand the multiple moving parts in that motor trade engine – including the work and tools of mechanics.

That’s why we offer specialist, flexible components to our policies, so both you and your tools are fully covered.

We’ve seen what’s in your toolbox

We know the difference between an adjustable wrench and a torque wrench – what they do and what you paid for them. And we appreciate that the loss of a chisel and punch set may mean you can’t repair a customer’s car quickly.

That’s exactly why we offer specialist mechanic tool cover.

We’ve been around the block and back

Our long service history coupled with a specialist team means we don’t try to be a jack-of-all-trades.

We’re simply good at delivering the cover you need and the advice you require for your sector.

Do I need Mechanic Tool Insurance?

You need Mechanic Tool Insurance if you want to protect your tools and equipment – whether you’re on the road or at a premises.

Without the correct tool insurance for mechanics, not only will there be a delay in your work, but the cost of quickly replacing those specialist tools could be huge.

Make sure to:

  • Research your options
  • Pick a reputable motor trade insurer
  • Check what you are and aren’t covered for
  • Remember than sometimes, a cheaper price means you may face exclusions on cover that you need
  • Work with a reliable insurer who can help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision

How can I save money on Toolbox Insurance?

The best way to save money on Toolbox Insurance in the long term, is to carefully research and select your insurer, working with them to make an informed decision on your cover.

We know you need to be cost-effective when running your business. And also that it can be tempting to choose a less well-known insurer with ‘cheap’ policies. But that won’t always work out the cheapest option in the long-run.

Your best bet in getting a comprehensive, cost-effective, high-quality policy, is working with a dedicated, reputable insurer within the motor trade industry.

This way, you’ll work with an insurer who will take the time to understand what you need and build you a policy that’s fit for your business – rather than just focus on getting you the cheapest quote.

If you do choose the ‘cheaper’ option, without doing research into what is and isn’t covered, you may end up out of pocket down the line. Maybe you won’t have cover for a key area of your business, or maybe you’ll be underinsured in other areas because you opted for the minimum level of cover.

For example, say you take out a policy but only opt for the minimum level of tools cover (£5k) to keep your quote down. And then a few weeks into your policy, your premises gets broken into and £15,000 worth of tools are stolen. You’ll only be covered for a third of that cost because you opted for the minimal level of Toolbox Insurance, with the aim of keeping your annual premium down.

At Road Runner, we pride ourselves on working with our customers to get the maximum level of cover at a reasonable price – giving them all the information they need to make an informed decision on their cover.
